- Prohibition encouraged people to see the law as unimportant and unnecessary, instead of something good and protecting. It did nothing to encourage the respect and obedience the law deserves.
- According to organized crime it still continues today because of the prohibition on gambling, prostitution, and drugs
- Lost jobs, difficult to fine one which encouraged others to break laws in order to support families sufficiently
- Many people started drinking at home continuously without stopping
- Hard liquor became popular because it was more concentrated and cheaper to smuggle
- Consumption tripled as cigarettes were legal everywhere
- More harmful and addictive than alcohol
